The Denver Broncos made one of the big splashes of the early days of the new league year when they sent a 2026 first-round draft pick, a third-rounder and a fourth-rounder to the Miami Dolphins for wide receiver Jaylen Waddle and a 2026 fourth-round draft choice.
During a Tuesday appearance on NFL Network, Broncos running back J.K. Dobbins took somewhat of a victory lap while speaking about the offensive talent possessed by his club this spring.
"We've got another guy that just came in, Jaylen Waddle, you know what I'm saying?" Dobbins said during the segment, per Kevin Patra of the NFL's website. "Pick your poison because we've got (wide receiver) Courtland Sutton, we've got the young (receiver) Pat Bryant, we've got a great O-line, we've got everything. We've got an embarrassment of riches on this team of talent."
Waddle recently suggested that he and Sutton will be 1A and 1B options for a passing attack led by young quarterback Bo Nix. Meanwhile, Dobbins and Co. can only wonder what could have been had Nix not suffered a broken bone in his right ankle late in Denver's 33-30 overtime win over the Buffalo Bills in the divisional round of the postseason tournament this past January. With Nix sidelined, the Broncos endured a brutal 10-7 loss to the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Game.
As for Dobbins, he has a lengthy injury history and went down with a foot issue in Week 10 of this past season that left him needing surgery. That latest setback has seemingly given the 27-year-old some extra motivation heading into the start of springtime workouts.
"I'm excited," Dobbins continued. "I really am, because, call it what it is, I got hurt, I missed the last, what, seven games in the regular season. I'm fresh. I'm gonna be fresh, and I'm gonna be p— off because I'm tired of the unfortunate stuff. I know that I can do it. It's gonna happen this year. It's gonna be great. I ain't gonna spill too much, I don't want to spill too many beans, but it's gonna be great."
Acquiring Waddle was undeniably a win-now move for a Broncos team that could feel it should have faced the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl LX. That said, it could be interesting to see how Denver players react to knowing a Super-Bowl-or-bust mandate now hangs over their heads.
