The New York Giants wrapped up last season at 4-13, but new head coach John Harbaugh is not wasting time. Free agency brought a wave of new faces, and the front office made sure every move matched what Harbaugh is trying to build.
With a young core already in place with quarterback Jaxson Dart, running back Cam Skattebo, wide receiver Malik Nabers and linebacker Abdul Carter, the franchise has the pieces for a faster rebuild than most teams in its position. General manager Joe Schoen and Harbaugh didn't have unlimited cap space, but they stretched what they had and came away with 16 additions.
Harbaugh joined "Pardon My Take" recently and broke down how the Giants approached the offseason. He was not shy about calling out the shift in mentality. The team is not interested in repeating the cycles of inconsistency that have defined recent years.
When things got tough in the past, the roster crumbled. That is not happening again if Harbaugh has anything to say about it. The focus now is assembling a group that can grind opponents down and keep that intensity all four quarters.
"I'm really excited about the fact that — I think we got a lot for our buck, so to speak," Harbaugh said. "And these are all guys that are motivated guys, that wanted to be here for the right reasons, that are gonna fit our style of play. We'll see, but I'm really kind of pleased with these guys. And we're not done yet."
Harbaugh also pointed to the Baltimore Ravens as a contrast. Both teams had comparable resources this offseason, but the Ravens walked away with just eight signings. The Giants took a different route entirely.
They didn't chase big names or hand out bloated contracts. Instead, they spread the money across multiple positions and reinforced weak spots without damaging future flexibility.
The receiving group got an upgrade. The linebacker room got reshaped. Every move had purpose behind it, and every player had to fit the culture Harbaugh is installing. Veterans like linebacker Tremaine Edmunds and tight end Isaiah Likely are exactly the type of players the coaching staff wanted.
They bring physicality and a blue-collar mentality that matches what Harbaugh demands. But even after adding 16 players, the Giants are not closing the door. They're still looking for veteran depth that other teams may have overlooked.
A potential reunion with wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has been floated around, and adding size with someone like defensive end Calais Campbell remains on the table. Harbaugh likes the progress so far, but he's still hunting for a few more pieces before the 2026 NFL Draft arrives.
