The Toronto Blue Jays have a rising farm system, which is significant during times of injuries and struggles. Adam Macko is a high-upside arm who would help boost the bullpen as a left-handed reliever.
The Blue Jays' bullpen has been struggling early in the season and needs to be addressed.
This has been due to overworked arms and inconsistencies that have contributed to high ERAs.
Brendon Little surrendered 10 runs across 3 2/3 innings this season, pointing to his lingering struggles. He was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo on April 5 to regain his confidence.
Adam Macko continued a strong start to the season as a full time reliever in 2026. He has gone 5 1/3 scoreless innings with 6 strikeouts and allowed just 2 hits His promotion to Toronto should be coming soon. The 25-year-old displayed an electric performance in the WBC, not allowing any earned runs. A major highlight in the tournament was when he struck out veterans Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber.
He encompasses a solid strikeout ability, and back in late 2023, this was evident when he punched out 26 batters across 15 innings.
Macko also has the tools to pitch in high-leverage situations, and his bread and butter pitch is his curveball. It generates a high whiff rate while also producing swings and misses.
Macko has also developed his fastball by increasing its velocity. It used to only reach the low-90s, but he's been able to top it at 97 mph.
2023 was a strong season for him as he set a career-high in innings pitched (86). He's also increased his workload, which makes him a strong candidate to earn a spot in the Blue Jays bullpen.
Macko offers depth and is a part of the 40-man roster, which makes it easy for a call-up. A midseason call-up would benefit him as he still requires some tune-up before making his MLB debut.
It hasn't been an easy road for the youngster. From 2021 to 2025, he has dealt with several different injuries, including shoulder tenderness, knee and elbow injuries, left forearm soreness and a meniscus tear in his left knee.
But despite all the mounting injuries, he has showcased grit by overcoming all the challenges he's faced with these injuries.
Macko has also shown development and growth through his transition to a bullpen role. The transition was completed to enhance his performance.
Macko currently has a 1-0 record, a 0.00 ERA with six strikeouts across 5.1 innings with the Bisons. If he can remain healthy and work on his command and consistency, he would be a dominant key piece in the Blue Jays' bullpen.
