The Baltimore Ravens starred in one of the most bizarre incidents in recent NFL history.
Earlier in the offseason, they backed out of a blockbuster trade to acquire Maxx Crosby, citing concerns about his health and quickly pivoting toward Trey Hendrickson.
At the time, they claimed that they wanted to have both of them, so they could still be in the mix to add another pass rusher for Jesse Minter's debut season.
With that in mind, NFL insider Jason La Canfora believes former No. 1 pick -- and Raven -- Jadeveon Clowney would be a seamless fit for their system.
"Use those long levers against the run a little and put him in a NASCAR package rushing inside in some nickel and dime looks," La Canfora wrote. "The fact he is already accustomed to the locker room – if not the coaching staff – helps. If they are going to take one more decent crack at an outside free agent, it had best be an edge or an offensive tackle."
Clowney already played in Baltimore in 2023. In his lone season in Maryland, the former South Carolina star played in 17 games (15 starts), logging 9.5 sacks, nine tackles for loss and 19 QB hits, per Football Reference.
While he's no longer at the peak of his powers and might be more of a rotational piece, he was the lone bright spot in the Dallas Cowboys' erratic pass-rush last season, posting 8.5 sacks with 10 QB hits and 12 tackles for loss despite playing just 44 percent of the snaps.
Spotrac projects his next contract to be for one year and $5.7 million, and with ESPN ranking the Ravens 28th in pass-rush win rate last season (30 percent), that looks like a solid investment.
