For the first time in two decades, Milwaukee Bucks coach Doc Rivers will finish a full NBA season with a losing record.
As polarizing as he might be, and as much as he should be held accountable for his team's shortcomings, Rivers has a strong resume, and he didn't appreciate a recent report from ESPN's Shams Charania.
He even took a not-so-subtle shot at Charania by name-dropping his mentor/rival, former ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski.
"Shams wrote an article that was so inaccurate," Rivers said on the "Run It Back" podcast. "...The first thing I thought was, 'Where's Woj? I miss Woj so much.'"
Wojnarowski was previously the most renowned NBA insider at ESPN. He took Charania under his wing, and the two became competitors for NBA scoops, with Charania ultimately taking his place at ESPN once Woj retired.
Charania has drawn criticism for what some deem as inaccurate reporting, especially with Giannis Antetokounmpo and his on-again, off-again trade saga.
Notably, Rivers made sure to use his platform to let everybody know how he felt about Charania's reporting, doubling down on his criticism in an appearance on "The Dan Patrick Show."
"If you read Shams' article the other day, that article was so far off-base. It was nowhere near as hectic, or a toxic situation as it looked," Rivers told Patrick.
