Carlos Alcaraz is back in the semifinals at Monte Carlo after defeating Alexander Bublik 6-3 6-0 in the quarterfinals.

After starting the match strongly with a break in the very first game, Alcaraz experienced a slight dip in level that allowed Bublik to get back on serve. However, from 2–3 down in the first set, the Spaniard did not look back, showcasing his growing comfort on the clay courts of Monte Carlo and winning ten straight games to close out the match in a dominant display to send a strong statement ahead of the business end of his title defense.

A Historic Win For Alcaraz

When the umpire called “game, set, match,” Alcaraz officially reached 300 career match wins on the ATP Tour.

The Spaniard, who holds the record as the youngest World No. 1 in ATP Tour history, achieved the milestone in just 367 matches, making him the third-fastest man to do so in the Open Era. Only Rod Laver and Jimmy Connors reached the mark more quickly, while Alcaraz is tied with John McEnroe in matches played, thus achieving the landmark faster than all members of the Big Three.

He has done so at a remarkable 81.7% win rate, underlining the consistency and dominance he has displayed since breaking onto the tour.

Eyes on Another Monte Carlo Final

Alcaraz will return to action in the semifinals on Saturday, where he will face the winner of Alex de Minaur vs Valentin Vacherot. Regardless of the opponent, the Spaniard will be heavily favored to advance.

All signs point toward a potential final showdown against Jannik Sinner, provided the Italian comes through his semifinal against Alexander Zverev. A meeting between the World No. 1 and No. 2 would not only decide the Monte Carlo title but would also have major implications for the top ranking, as the winner is set to enter the next week ranked as the No. 1 in the world.
