In their final game of the regular season, the Detroit Pistons made their 2025-26 campaign historic no matter what happens in the playoffs.
With a 133-121 win over the Indiana Pacers on Sunday, the Pistons finished the regular season with a 60-22 record.
Detroit's 60th win marks only the third such season and the first for the franchise in exactly 20 years when the 2005-06 Pistons entered the postseason at 64-18.
With their place as the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference already locked up before tip-off — they secured their seed on April 4 — the Pistons staggered minutes throughout the game and were able to win without their usual top stars having to carry the load.

Tobias Harris put up 24 points, also in 22 minutes. Harris also contributed four boards and one assist.
And as for Detroit's top guns in the last game before the playoffs. Cade Cunningham, who wraps the season at 23.9 points, 5.5 rebounds and 9.9 assists per game, did play in only his third game back after missing 11 games with a collapsed lung, but scored only seven points in 22 minutes. Jalen Duren (knee) did not see the floor.
The pressure is now on the Pistons to finish the postseason better than the last Detroit team to win 60 games in a regular season. The 2005-06 Pistons made it all the way to Eastern Conference Finals, the third of four consecutive trips at the time, before falling to the eventual NBA champion Miami Heat in six games.
Back to the present day iteration of the franchise, Cunningham and his Pistons will now enjoy a bit of a break as they await whoever ends up as the No. 8 seed after the play-in tournament and their first round opponent.
