The '50-HR MLB seasons' quiz

Happy 49th birthday to 10-time Gold Glover, five-time All-Star and member of the 2026 Pro Baseball Hall of Fame inductee class, Andruw Jones!

Jones made his MLB debut in the 1996 season with the Atlanta Braves, but had to wait until 1997 to become an everyday player for the club. In that season he hit .231 with 18 home runs and 70 RBIs. to finish fifth in Rookie of the Year voting. In 1998 he won his first of 10-consecutive Gold Gloves, meaning he was a Gold Glover in all but his first two seasons in the ATL.

In 2005 he finished second in MVP voting, hitting an MLB-best 51 home runs while driving in a National League-best 128 runs. He left Atlanta after 12 seasons, playing for the Dodgers, White Sox and Yankees before playing in Japan and retiring after 2014.

Most recently, Jones managed Team Netherlands at the 2026 World Baseball Classic, where they finished last in their pool.

Which brings us to today’s quiz. Jones is one of 34 players in Major League history to hit 50 home runs in a season. How many of those players can you name in five minutes?

Good luck!
