The Cleveland Browns aced the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft by addressing their two main needs: A new left tackle and a wide receiver.
After taking Utah's Spencer Fano at No. 9, the Browns added KC Concepcion, a speedy playmaker and the best returner in the class, out of Texas A&M with the 24th pick.
Head coach Todd Monken's team still needs to figure out who's going to be under center to start the season. However, it looks like Concepcion would prefer Shedeur Sanders.
Talking to the media at CrossCountry Mortgage Campus, the Browns' first-rounder revealed his excitement for getting to work with Sanders.
"I actually got, kind of like, a story. When I had entered the transfer portal after my sophomore season, I had actually went down to Colorado and met Shedeur," Concepcion revealed. "He's a great guy, a great leader. I just cannot wait to build that relationship, build that connection with him."
While he didn't say it up front, he's pretty much assuming that Sanders will be QB1 next season.
He got the bulk of the first-team reps in the first stretch of voluntary minicamp in the week leading to the draft, so this makes sense.
However, he still needs to beat Deshaun Watson and Dillon Gabriel for the job, assuming they don't add anyone else to the mix in the following days of the draft or the offseason.
Concepcion has some drop issues, but he's the ultimate YAC specialist, and he'll give whoever is under center in Cleveland a twitchy playmaker in the open field.
Along with Harold Fannin Jr., he should have already passed the struggling Jerry Jeudy in the Browns' pass-catchers' pecking order.
