On paper, the New Orleans Saints seemed to close the door on a potential reunion with veteran pass-rusher Cameron Jordan when the club acquired Tyree Wilson from the Las Vegas Raiders and then agreed to sign Anfernee Jennings on Sunday.
While speaking with Matthew Paras of the New Orleans Times-Picayune, Jordan indicated that he could offer the Saints something that they still don't have on their roster.
"I don't know," Jordan said when asked what the Saints' defensive transactions could mean for his future, per Kevin Patra of the NFL's website. "There's nobody (the Saints acquired) who produced the way I did last year, so. My talent speaks for itself. And if things work out, phenomenal. I've always said I understand the business side to it, so I've never worried about it."
ESPN stats show that Jordan, who will turn 37 years old this coming summer, led the 2025 Saints with 10.5 sacks. To compare, Wilson has never had more than 4.5 sacks during a single campaign. Jennings has tallied a total of 7.5 sacks since entering the league via the 2020 draft.
Jordan has played only for the Saints since they drafted him in 2011, but he previously made it known that he wanted "to be valued" by either New Orleans or a different team. It sounds like he wants to be signed with a club before organized team activities get underway in the middle of May.
"The landscape is clearing up," Jordan explained. "You know, we just made a move. They just made a move (for Jennings). I said 'we.' I keep saying 'we,' and I'm having to force myself to say black and gold, black and gold, even though it's always going to be a 'we.' So yeah, I think that again, they made plenty of great moves, and honestly, I hope things do align. And if not, I'll know what the landscape looks like for me in the next week."
Those comments suggest Jordan now believes he won't be returning to the Saints for at least one more season.
