For 15 years, Cameron Jordan has been a stalwart in the New Orleans Saints' defense.
Their all-time leader in sacks, Jordan, is coming off a surprisingly positive season for his age (10.5 sacks at age 36), and he'd be an upgrade for most defenses in the league.
That's why, even though he's still a free agent and was open about potentially leaving the team, they haven't shut the door on him.
In an interview with Adam Schein for Mad Dog Sports Radio, Saints GM Mickey Loomis revealed that both parties have been in touch.
"We've had good conversations with Cam," Loomis said.
It certainly seemed that Jordan was ready to take his talents elsewhere. Nevertheless, the Saints still wish he would retire with the only team he's played for.
"Cam has meant so much to our franchise. He's had just a great career. I'd be really excited if the Saints were the only team that he ever played for," he added.
Jordan should still have some strong suitors around the league. The Chicago Bears and Dennis Allen, who was his defensive coordinator or head coach for most of his career, could certainly use some help in the pass-rushing department.
That said, he will most likely prefer to stay in the Big Easy for the final stretch of his career if that's a real possibility.
Then again, that's not going to help his case if he wants to win a ring before he rides into the sunset.
