On April 25, the Toronto Blue Jays called up prospect Yohendrick Pinango to provide outfield depth due to Nathan Lukes landing on the injury list with a hamstring injury.
Across five games, Pinango has made quite the impression. Through 10 at-bats, he has compiled five hits, three RBI and a walk while batting .500.
While it's a small sample size, and he has less MLB experience compared to Davis Schneider, Pinango made a striking impression.
Pinango has put up a solid performance in Triple-A Buffalo, too, hitting .288 with three home runs, 13 RBI and 10 walks across 22 games. Blue Jays manager John Schneider has liked what he has seen from the 23-year-old.
John Schneider pre-game on Yohendrick Piñango, who's been making a good first impression:

“We’re going to give him a bit of a runway while he’s here. That’s the profile you want. Go ahead and swing it and swing at a good pitch.” #BlueJays
Evidently, John Schneider wants to utilize all his depth pieces and give them playing time. But, following Pinango's productive game on May 1, going 3-for-4 with two RBI, Schneider wanted to ride with his hot bat.
However, the skipper placed Davis Schneider in the lineup against the Minnesota Twins on Saturday afternoon, which is deserved.
This season, Davis Schneider is batting .125 with a home run, five RBI and 13 walks across 48 at-bats. He has come into key situations this season with clutch hits and good plate discipline, as shown by the 13 walks. He has also provided elite defense with stellar diving catches in the outfield.
When Addison Barger and Lukes return, tough decisions will have to be made. Pinango's high ceiling through Triple-A, strong contact ability and power potential are what make him a compelling asset to the roster. The Blue Jays prospect will be looking to continue to provide an impact with his bat-to-bat skills in MLB.
