One of the most exciting teams in the NFL to watch in the 2026-27 season will be the Las Vegas Raiders. Between having two new quarterbacks in veteran Kirk Cousins and 2026 No. 1 overall draft pick Fernando Mendoza and edge rusher Maxx Crobsy back in the fold, this franchise will be fascinating to watch.
Now, following the NFL Draft, the Raiders are perfecting their lineup and filling in gaps.
In an April 29 feature for CBS Sports, Zachary Pereles gave his thoughts on every NFL team's biggest need left on their roster. For the Raiders, he wrote they could still use a solid wide receiver and sees one in Stefon Diggs.
What makes this fit special is that Cousins and Diggs played together for two seasons with the Minnesota Vikings from 2018 to 2019.
"Diggs showed last year he can still really play, even if his snap share was way down," Pereles wrote. "A talented separator who snatches the ball with hands like glue, Diggs would really help a Raiders wide receiver group bereft of his skill set and bereft of experience. The youngsters could play a lot, but Diggs could still see plenty of work on crucial downs."
In an April 29 piece for Sports Illustrated, Thomas Carelli also named the Raiders as a land spot for Diggs, along with the Baltimore Ravens and Kansas City Chiefs. He noted that the Raiders are in dire need of wide receiver help.
"The Raiders field no one worthy as a WR2, let alone a WR1. Tyler Lockett and Jack Bech need a cushion ahead of them, and Diggs can be a prime option to be added on a short-term deal," Carelli wrote. "Mendoza will get to trust the elite veteran, and though the offense may be shaky in year 1, Diggs would rise high in target share. Brock Bowers will still have the jump on the top pass-catching role, but a lack of options could slot Diggs in as a fantasy football WR2 with WR1 usage. In garbage time, Diggs could eat a big meal week in and week out."
Diggs to the Raiders makes too much sense. For a team in such flux and juggling between two quarterbacks this season, having some consistency in the wide receiver position with a veteran such as Diggs would be a solid move.
