The Miami Marlins have a huge success story with 27-year-old starting pitcher Max Meyer. He's shown concrete resiliency following significant injuries that have impacted his career.
Meyer spent last season recovering (6-8 months) from season-ending left hip surgery. He had Tommy John surgery in 2022 as well.
But that's all behind him, as a healthy Meyer has transformed into a key addition in the rotation.
He's been pitching like a potential ace with a 2.68 ERA across 37 innings, limiting opponents to a .128 batting average as well as 40 punchouts and a 1.03 WHIP.

The revival that Meyer has unleashed this season, following the recovery from severe injuries, shows how he's a serviceable starter. He certainly has had a lot to prove, with a career 4.70 ERA, and he's done so impressively through his solid swing-and-miss dominance. His slider has been a massive weapon, producing a 43.8 percent whiff rate. It's also held batters to a .121 batting average.
The doubt of whether he would bounce back from his injuries has now been overlooked, considering his resurgence and stabilizing the Marlins rotation. His performance has exceeded the skepticism surrounding his ability to return to form after multiple injury-plagued years. He's displayed a dominant comeback, and his most recent performance will be one to remember. He threw a career-high seven shutout innings on May 2 and struck out seven while only giving up one hit.
With the way he is performing, he has a good chance to win the NL Comeback Player of the Year Award. While it's a long season, if Meyer can continue to navigate his dominance, his testimonial so far this season makes him a prime candidate.
