Memphis Grizzlies forward Brandon Clarke has sadly died this week at the age of 29.

Prior to being drafted by the Grizzlies in 2019, Clarke was a star at Gonzaga.

The All-American helped the Bulldogs win 33 games and reach the NCAA Tournament regional final during the 2018-19 season. Clarke had a very respectable run with the Grizzlies.

Clarke, a member of the NBA's All-Rookie team in 2020, averaged 10.2 points and 5.5 rebounds per game during his tenure in Memphis.

“We are beyond devastated by the passing of Brandon Clarke. He was so loved by all of us here, and everyone whose life he touched,” Priority Sports said.

“He was the gentlest soul who was the first to be there for all of his friends and family. Our hearts are so broken as we think of his mom, Whitney, his entire family, and all of his friends and teammates. From high school to San Jose State to Gonzaga to the Grizzlies, Brandon impacted everyone who was part of his life.”

After this tragic news was confirmed, Grizzlies star Ja Morant posted a heartfelt message on his Instagram Story.

"This hurt BC," Morant wrote. "Love you broski. Gone way too soon. It's bigger than basketball."

Grizzlies forward Jaylen Wells also paid tribute to Clarke on social media.

"Everything he’s went through in the time I’ve been in Memphis he still came in with a smile on his face and was a light in the locker room, truly an inspiring person," Wells said on his Instagram story. "Memphis won’t be the same without you."
