With his mentor, Kyle Larson, watching atop his pit box, Corey Day mounted a furious charge and passed Justin Allgaier in the closing laps of Saturday's BetRivers 200 at Dover Motor Speedway to earn his second win of the 2026 NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series season and the second of his career.

Day found chunks of speed by running the highest lane he could on the racetrack in the closing laps and used the top to get around Sam Mayer for second before running down and passing Allgaier, who surrendered the lead with four laps to go.

Day earned his first career win at Talladega on April 25 and is now only the second series regular — the other being Allgaier — who has multiple wins in 2026.

"I was hoping that's how it would've played out," Day told CW Sports. "It just worked out good. Thank you, Mr. Hendrick. This one feels really, really good. We earned that one."

Notable results

Allgaier, the series points leader, finished runner-up, with Mayer, William Sawaliach and Austin Hill rounding out the top five. Brandon Jones, Carson Kvapil, Ryan Sieg, Sammy Smith and Anthony Alfredo completed the top 10.

Other notable finishers include Austin Green in 12th, polesitter Ross Chastain in 13th, Rajah Caruth in 14th, Brent Crews in 22nd and defending series champion Jesse Love in 23rd.

On pit road after the race, Allgaier had a chat with Blake Lothian, who got in the way of him and Day as they were battling for the lead in the closing laps. Allgaier was forced to go low after Lothian ran in the middle of the racetrack, which allowed Day to get to Allgaier's outside and make the winning pass.

"It's a good teaching moment," Allgaier said. "I just didn't know which lane he was going to go in. [Corey] was running me down there. Just disappointed to walk out of here with a second. Hats off to Corey and that whole No. 17 team. Disappointing day."

A victory for Allgaier would've moved him into sole possession of sixth on the all-time O'Reilly Series wins list and also would've made him the winningest series regular/non-Cup driver in series history.

Chastain was relegated to the back of the field after receiving damage in a crash with Taylor Gray, who finished 32nd.

Jeb Burton and Parker Retzlaff finished 37th and 38th, respectively, after an early crash took both of them out after only 10 laps.

Allgaier now leads second-place Sheldon Creed by  175 points in the series standings through 14 races. Allgaier leads the series with 10 top fives and 12 top 10s going into Race No. 15 at Charlotte Motor Speedway on May 23.

Sawalich currently holds the 12th and final provisional Chase berth by five points over his Joe Gibbs Racing teammate in Crews.
