A recent story suggested that the Los Angeles Rams, Kansas City Chiefs, Washington Commanders and Atlanta Falcons were potential landing spots for free-agent wide receiver Stefon Diggs.
Diggs is not expected to re-sign with a New England Patriots team that reportedly will acquire wantaway Philadelphia Eagles receiver A.J. Brown at some point after June 1. For an article published on Monday, NFL analyst Matt Bowen of ESPN named the Rams as the best fit for Diggs this spring.
"I really like him in L.A. alongside Puka Nacua and Davante Adams," Bowen wrote about Diggs. "The Rams attempted 430 passes out of 11 personnel (three wide receivers) last season, which was ninth most in the league, and Diggs is a natural separator who can line up inside or outside. Plus, he has the toughness to work the middle of the field on in-breaking concepts, a key element of coach Sean McVay's offense."
Diggs led the Patriots for the 2025 regular season with 85 receptions and 1,013 receiving yards. Over 17 games, he notched four touchdown catches.
To compare, Nacua led the entire NFL for this past regular season with 129 receptions, and he was second in the league with 1,715 receiving yards. Meanwhile, the previously mentioned Adams recorded a league-best 14 receiving touchdowns.
Diggs was recently found not guilty regarding charges of felony strangulation or suffocation and misdemeanor assault related to an alleged incident said to have occurred in December of last year. However, Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio mentioned earlier in May that the NFL's investigation of Diggs under the personal conduct policy "remains open." It's unclear if the Rams and other teams will wait to sign Diggs until the results of that investigation are made public.
"Diggs had 85 receptions last season for the Patriots, which was almost twice as many as their next-closest wide receiver (Mack Hollins with 46)," Bowen added. "He would provide an easy boost to the Rams WR room for quarterback Matthew Stafford."
Outsiders don't yet know if the win-now Rams will have Stafford, 38, on their roster at this time next year. Thus, one would think that McVay would be keen on signing Diggs to a one-year contract if it becomes clear that the 32-year-old won't be suspended by the NFL at any point before the 2026 season wraps up.
