It's been a long offseason for Stefon Diggs, but after being found not guilty of all charges stemming from an alleged incident with his personal chef, he can focus on football again. That's going to start with finding his new team.
Diggs' lawyer was confident that's coming quick.
"I believe that a team will reach out and sign him imminently," Diggs' lawyer said, via WCVB-TV Boston. They’re going to be lucky to get him.”
But what team is going to sign him? Here's a look at a few contenders who would make sense for Diggs in one way or another.
Throughout the offseason, the Eagles have been involved in some of the biggest rumors at the wide receiver position. That's largely been around the future of A.J. Brown, who will likely be traded.
But the Eagles still need to replace Brown. They seemed to partially do that by taking Makai Lemon in the first round of the NFL Draft. However, they could add to that with a veteran in Diggs.
The Bills watched the AFC East slip away from them in 2025, and they'd like to avoid a repeat of that in 2026. Part of the expectation there has been that they'll continue to build around quarterback Josh Allen and find targets who can elevate the offense.
So, who better than Diggs? He has already played with Allen in Buffalo, and they have good chemistry. So, a homecoming to get over the hump could make sense.
In 2024, the Commanders decided to supplement a young roster with several key veterans. It worked, and they were able to make a playoff run, but as those veterans aged, the entire team regressed in 2025. Now, Diggs would make sense as a new veteran addition.
The goal for the Commanders is clearly to win what should be a wide-open NFC East. Adding a reliable veteran like Diggs would do wonders for Jayden Daniels and the offense.
On the other end of the A.J. Brown rumors have been the New England Patriots. They're expected to add Brown in June, to go along with free agent signing Romeo Doubs. This is after they released Diggs.
But what if now that Diggs was found not guilty, the Patriots decide that they'd prefer him to Brown? Or if they'd prefer only paying money, instead of money and draft picks? That could make Diggs worth taking another look at.
Going into 2026, the Rams are one of the favorites to win the Super Bowl. So, anything else would end up being a bit of a disappointment. That's even after they used their first-round pick on QB Ty Simpson, who isn't even expected to play this season.
Diggs would allow the Rams to add an impact player right now. Another veteran who gets open and has good hands, allowing him to be a reliable target for Matthew Stafford while stressing those talented NFC West defenses.
