Patriots' Kyle Williams addresses ongoing trade rumors involving Eagles' A.J. Brown

While recent stories have hinted that a surprise team could swoop in and acquire wantaway Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown, updates shared on Tuesday and Wednesday continued to suggest that the New England Patriots will land Brown.

While speaking with reporters at the Patriots' Community Day event on Wednesday, second-year New England wideout Kyle Williams addressed the Brown-sized elephant in the room.

Kyle Williams on Patriots trading for A.J. Brown: If it happens, it happens

"I’m focused on where my feet are," Williams said about the Brown-related trade rumors, per Karen Guregian of MassLive. "If it happens, it happens. If it doesn’t, we still gotta keep going."

Fellow Patriots receiver and free-agent acquisition Romeo Doubs previously made it known that he would accept whatever role is given to him in the event that New England acquires Brown. While Doubs signed a four-year contract reportedly worth up to $80M in March, Williams is a 2025 third-round draft pick who recorded just 10 receptions for 209 yards and three touchdowns during his rookie season.

"He’s somebody that I studied a little bit," Williams added about Brown. "I’m not as big as him, but I try to play big if I can. He’s just a great player. Great habits, a consistent guy. He’s a player you would want to look up to and watch."

What Kyle Williams learned from Stefon Diggs

New England reportedly will not trade for Brown and also re-sign veteran Stefon Diggs, the team's leading receiver from last season who is still a free agent as of the third Wednesday of May. Williams noted that he learned plenty from Diggs as the 2025 Patriots completed a trip to Super Bowl LX.

"Everything from when I first met him, to his last day here, I know I can take a lot from it, going on from here to the end of my career," Williams said about Diggs. "Just the wise words and wise lessons that he taught me."

Williams may soon have a new mentor inside the Patriots' locker room if reporters who have linked Brown with New England since this past winter are proven right in early June.
