More often than not, the Los Angeles Lakers will be tied to every single big-name player who becomes available.
As such, and given that LeBron James will probably leave in free agency, it's not much of a surprise to see them tangled up in trade rumors for Giannis Antetokounmpo.
According to NBA insider Shams Charania, the Lakers will likely re-ignite their interest in trading for the Greek Superstar.
Speaking on "The Rich Eisen Show," Charania revealed the Lakers' best potential offer for the former MVP, and it might simply not be enough.
"The Lakers expressed interest in Giannis at the deadline. Right now, what they'll be able to offer is three first-round picks and cap space and essentially absorb Giannis' contract," Charania said.
The Lakers currently have the No. 25 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft. They can also trade picks in 2031 and 2023 and offer pick-swaps in other years.
However, Charania doesn't see that being just enough to get Giannis, especially given that other teams will also join the sweepstakes:
"Now, if you're the Bucks, are you just gonna trade Giannis to the Lakers for cap space and three first-round picks? Like, my sense is they're going to get better in the marketplace than that," he continued.
The Lakers might also try to work out a sign-and-trade with Austin Reaves. Again, that may fall just short of what the Bucks want to get from the greatest player in franchise history.
That said, Giannis has teased leaving Milwaukee for almost three years now. At this point, it'll be hard to believe it until people see it, though that won't stop other teams from trying to get him.
