Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark will make a major appearance away from basketball on Sunday. The two-time WNBA All-Star was named the grand marshal of the 110th edition of the Indy 500 race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
As the grand marshal, Clark will lead the pre-race ceremonies and command the drivers to report to their cars. It’s a simple task, but it is widely considered one of the greatest honors for the famed NASCAR race.
Clark will take center stage on Sunday and deliver the customary command following the national anthem performance, right before the green flag drops at 12:45 p.m. ET.
One of the biggest events leading up to the race is the Indy 500 Festival Parade. Considered one of the largest and most prestigious parades in the United States, the massive street celebration took place on Saturday morning.
Indiana Pacers players Pascal Siakam and Andrew Nembhard were named grand marshals for the parade. Siakam took to Instagram on Saturday to share a hilarious encounter. This is after the four-time All-Star ran into a resident who refused to believe that he was the grand marshal for the parade.
“Heated argument over $10 parking for Indy 500 parade ” Siakam captioned his video.

Clark jumped on the comments section to share her reaction to the exchange.
“Hahahah this is great ” the Fever guard wrote.
To be fair, Siakam still decided to pay the $10 parking fee. This is after convincing the lady that he was, indeed, the grand marshal for the parade. The resident wasn’t wrong in thinking that Clark was the grand marshal for the race, but she wasn’t aware that Siakam was the grand marshal for Saturday’s parade.
Clark clearly thought it was funny.
