John Harbaugh is still learning the New York Giants' roster, since he's only been with the team for a few months, but considering Harbaugh is no newbie, he's already likely gotten to know the ins and outs of the team's core players.
Now that the 2026 NFL Draft has wrapped up, it's a good time to reflect on who makes up the Giants' current roster and where there might be some diamonds in the rough.
Tom Blair of NFL.com released a feature on Tuesday highlighting each NFC team's most underrated players. While the big names such as Jaxson Dart and Cam Skattebo always get love, it's nice to spread the praise around a bit.
"That's a sliding scale, to be sure," he states in the piece, "but the basic goal here is to give more love to those who deserve it."
Blair highlights running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. as an underrated gem on the team. The Giants drafted him in the fifth round in 2024 as the 166th overall selection, and he's been a hard worker ever since.
"I get why folks went gaga for Cam Skattebo, who ferociously outplayed his draft slot, running with the same charisma that made him a college star," Blair notes. "His zeal was irresistible -- until he went down with a dislocated ankle in October. Meanwhile, Tracy churned out another 1,000 yards from scrimmage, becoming the first Giants player since Saquon Barkley to hit that mark in back-to-back seasons, and just the fifth to do it since 2010."
When Skattebo comes back from his injury, he'll get a lot of attention again, but Tracy should still get plenty of playing time. Last season, Tracy had 36 receptions for 288 yards and two touchdowns in addition to his 740 yards and two touchdowns on the ground, so he had a strong performance while displaying his versatility out of the backfield.
There's no reason to keep Tracy on the Giants' bench this season, and if Harbaugh is smart, which he is, he'll utilize this talented running back.
