The quarterback competition in the Minnesota Vikings camp between J.J. McCarthy and Kyler Murray is getting plenty of attention, but the team has also been looking to bring on its next general manager.
Now, the search is over, as the Vikings have hired Seattle Seahawks assistant general manager Nolan Teasley to take over as the franchise's new general manager.
The news was first reported by the NFL Network's Tom Pelissero and shared by industry vets, including ESPN's Adam Schefter. Teasley comes to Minnesota following 13 seasons with the Seahawks, where he was an intern starting in 2013 and then worked his way up to being permanent assistant general manager starting in 2023.
He takes over for Kwesi Adofo-Mensah and will replace interim general manager Rob Brzezinski, who was also in the running for the permanent job.

So, what does Teasley's hiring mean to the Vikings? A lot. First of all, he brings a fresh start. He was the only one of the candidates with zero ties to the Vikings. That means he has no preconceived ideas about this team, and that should help, because he'll be totally open-minded and come from a clean slate.
Teasley also brings the knowledge that comes from a franchise that just won the Super Bowl. This is huge. Teasley served as assistant general manager in Seattle during the period when the franchise really started to accelerate, so he knows what the inside of a winning organization looks like.
Finally, Teasley brings a learned ability to scout out the best talent for roster holes, and that's obviously the main job of a general manager. With the Seahawks, he oversaw football operations and worked closely with general manager and president of football operations John Schneider in "all aspects of player acquisition via the draft, free agency and trade proposals," according to the Seahawks' official website. He's going to hit the ground running, and the Vikings don't have time to waste, so Teasley is coming just in time.
