Head coach Clark Lea and the Vanderbilt Commodores have picked up a massive 2027 commitment.
Not only is 4-star offensive tackle Jasper Ngokwere one of the best recruits at his position in the nation, but Vandy was in a massive recruiting battle to win his allegiance.
Ngokwere, checking in at 6-foot-6, 290 pounds, is ranked as the No. 25 offensive tackle in the 2027 class, according to 247Sports.
He boasts well over 30 offers, but Vanderbilt was in his top group alongside the Texas Longhorns, Northwestern Wildcats and Texas Tech Red Raiders.
That's a recruiting battle the Commodores ultimately won.

An official visit at the end of May put the Commodores over the top for the big offensive tackle recruit.
“I’m excited to just be there and be a part of the program,” Ngokwere told Rivals. “I know that we’re going to change the way the program is, and I’m just glad to be a part of that change.”
Speaking of change, Lea had Vandy at 10-3 last season and at one point ranked as high as No. 9 in the AP Poll.
The Commodores feel like they can be a competitor in the NIL and transfer portal era, and Lea's confidence is a big part of that. Position coaching Chris Klenakis and Jeff Nady deserve some credit for this recruiting win as well, though.
“Going to Vandy this weekend, I saw and heard a lot of things, and I really just felt a connection when I got there,” Ngokwere explained. “Coach K and Coach Nady are also great people, and I’ve seen how they train and develop their offensive linemen, and I feel like I can be the next one.”
Ngokwere is Vanderbilt's ninth 2027 commitment.
