Pete Crow-Armstrong redeems himself for blunder with first career walk-off in Cubs' comeback

The Chicago Cubs may have secured the win that will turn their season around in front of an electric Wrigley Field crowd on Thursday night.

Pete Crow-Armstrong caps off the comeback win

Going into the bottom of the ninth inning trailing 6-3 against the Athletics, Chicago was headed toward its ninth straight loss at Wrigley Field. The Cubs offense, though, had completely different plans.

Chicago sent eight batters to the plate, collecting seven hits and scoring four runs to secure a 7-6 comeback win. The final hit of the game came off the bat of star centerfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong.

After an earlier blunder in the outfield, Crow-Armstrong flipped the script and delivered a walk-off single and sent the Wrigley crowd into a frenzy.

Crow-Armstrong redeemed himself after his blunder in the sixth inning led to an inside-the-park home run for the A's.

The heroes before the walk off

Prior to the game-winning hit from Crow-Armstrong, it was a trio of Cubs batters delivering RBI hits. Each of Ian Happ, Moises Ballesteros and Dansby Swanson delivered run-scoring hits.

Swanson's game-tying single came with a runner in scoring position and two outs, a situation he's slashed just .161/.257/.323 this season.

Could this be the win that turns the season back to the good side?

Prior to the eight-game home losing streak, Chicago had won 15 straight games at home. It is the same Cubs lineup that posted two 10-game winning streaks within the first two months of the season.

A win like the one the Cubs put together on Thursday is the type that can get a team back in the swing of things. With 12 consecutive games against the San Francisco Giants and Colorado Rockies, Chicago has a chance to do exactly that.
