Insider shares new warning for Eagles' Jalen Hurts amid rumors

It certainly appears to outsiders that certain people associated with the Philadelphia Eagles want it known that quarterback Jalen Hurts will be entering "a make-or-break season" regarding his future with the organization this September.

On Tuesday, NFL insider Dan Graziano of ESPN explained why the Hurts-related rumors may continue to hover over the Eagles through the end of the 2026 season.

Why Eagles, Jalen Hurts rumblings may "only get louder"

"Hurts has three years left on his contract and $22M in guaranteed money set for 2027," Graziano explained. "But we've already heard rumblings out of Philly this offseason about Hurts' level of perceived responsibility for the offense's 2025 struggles. And those rumblings will only get louder if the offense struggles again in 2026."

Following the 2025 campaign, multiple reports claimed that Hurts "has been the source of much internal frustration" and has allegedly rubbed people within the Eagles "the wrong way" since the team's Super Bowl victory in February 2025. More recently, it was said that the Eagles had "done a lot of work on" Texas Tech Red Raiders quarterback Brendan Sorsby. However, it now seems that Sorsby won't be part of this year's supplemental draft.

Additionally, the fact that Hurts and wide receiver A.J. Brown grew "apart" over the past couple of seasons likely has something to do with why the Eagles traded Brown to the New England Patriots.

New Eagles offensive coordinator Sean Mannion could become Jalen Hurts' new best friend, or...

"Hurts is a willing pupil," Graziano added, "and he's working diligently to learn and master the Sean Mannion offense this offseason. His career has been defined by his willingness and ability to make himself a better player in specific ways the organization has asked of him. Some years, the new offense in Philly works great. Other years, it does not. Which will this be? And if it's the latter, what does that mean for Hurts' future with the Eagles?"

Of course, stories suggesting this spring that Hurts and the Eagles could part ways next offseason will ultimately look downright silly if he gets his hands on the Vince Lombardi Trophy for the second time during his career in February 2027. That said, it continues to sound like some in-the-know people believe the Eagles could go in a different direction regarding their quarterback situation if Hurts fails to reclaim his best form while playing under Mannion.
