Could Deebo Samuel finally find a new home in the AFC?

Despite his team's woes, Deebo Samuel had a solid first season in the nation's capital.

However, it seems that the Washington Commanders don't feel the same way, and they won't bring him back after Kliff Kingsbury's departure.

Somewhat surprisingly, the veteran wide receiver is still unsigned, and while he's no longer the same dual-threat superstar he was in his heyday, he can still contribute to an offense.

That's why the Indianapolis Colts could consider him as a potential option, according to ESPN insider Stephen Holder.

The Colts might make a run at Deebo Samuel

“The Colts must decide whether a top three featuring Pierce, Josh Downs and Ashton Dulin is sufficient, especially in light of Dulin’s critical role as a gunner and other roles in the kicking game,” Holder reported. “...The Colts are still mulling a potential roster move at receiver, with remaining free agent options including Keenan Allen and Deebo Samuel.”

The Colts had to trade Michael Pittman Jr. to the Pittsburgh Steelers to clear the books to give Alec Pierce a big contract extension this offseason.

They signed Nick Westbrook-Ikhine and drafted Deion Burks, but the first has never been a steady contributor and the other is a seventh-round pick.

As for Dulin, he's made most of his damage on special teams, so relying on him as their third starter might come back to haunt this team.

Josh Downs is entering a contract year and tight end Tyler Warren should take a leap after a promising first year in charge, but that may not be enough.

And after committing $88 million to Daniel Jones for the next couple of years, the least they can do is give him the weapons he needs to get the job done.

The Colts have more than enough financial wiggle room and available cap space to sign Samuel, and they can't afford to roll into next season with this lack of depth at the position.
