A recent report shared that the Philadelphia Eagles "never made a play for" Myles Garrett before the Cleveland Browns traded the star pass-rusher to the Los Angeles Rams last week.
On Wednesday, NFL insider Jason La Canfora of SportsBoom US spoke with one unnamed general manager about how Eagles general manager Howie Roseman may respond to the Rams acquiring the two-time Defensive Player of the Year.
"You know Howie," that general manager said. "He wanted Garrett. He’s really tight with (Browns GM) Andrew Berry. That’s his guy This is just going to light even more of a fire under him."
A previous report suggested that the Browns wanted defensive tackle Jalen Carter from the Eagles and that Roseman wouldn't include Carter in any deal for Garrett. However, Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer has since said that the Garrett trade "was always a Browns-and-Rams-only proposition."
"The Browns knew that Garrett would waive his no-trade clause to play in Los Angeles for a number of reasons," Cabot explained, "including the fact that his girlfriend, Olympic snowboarder Chloe Kim, lives there."
Meanwhile, the Eagles recently traded wide receiver A.J. Brown to the New England Patriots for a 2028 first-round draft pick and a 2027 fifth-round pick.
"[Roseman is] not going to sit on his hands, I can promise you that," one long-time NFL personnel executive told La Canfora. La Canfora added that "Roseman now has two 2028 first-round picks to dangle."
Such comments could lead one to believe that Las Vegas Raiders pass-rusher Maxx Crosby may end up on the Eagles' radar later this year. Crosby has insisted that he wants to stay with the Raiders after the Baltimore Ravens backed out of acquiring him earlier this year for reasons related to the meniscus repair he needed following the 2025 season. That said, some think that Crosby's camp and those running the Raiders could revisit conversations about the player's future if Las Vegas has a losing record ahead of the November trade deadline.
Crosby signed a three-year, $106.5M contract extension ahead of the 2025 campaign.
