The 'Single-season HR-leaders by team' quiz

Shohei Ohtani came out of the gate much sharper on the pitcher’s mound than at the plate this season, but the four-time MVP has finally rounded into form on both sides of the ball.

Batting leadoff as the DH for the Los Angeles Dodgers against the Tampa Bay Rays, his solo home run was the  only run scored in the Dodgers 1-0 win to secure the series victory. Ohtani had a batting average as low as .240 in mid-May, which would have easily been his lowest in a full season. Now he has it up to .297 with a National League-best .419 on-base percentage and 42 RBI to go with his 15 dingers.

He’ll take the mound for his 12th start of the season in the series finale on Wednesday, bringing an absurd 1.06 ERA with 73 strikeouts and just 36 hits allowed in 67 2/3 innings with him.

Which brings us to today’s quiz. Now in his third season with the Dodgers, Ohtani may for the first time not set a franchise single-season home run record after hitting 54 in 2024 and 55 in 2025. With that being said, can you name the players to hit the most home runs in one season for every MLB franchise?

Good luck!
