Jets' Breece Hall makes painful admission about Knicks' NBA Finals victory

Back in December, running back Breece Hall acknowledged that the New York Jets reclaiming sole possession of the longest active postseason drought among the NFL, MLB, NHL, NBA and MLS at 15 years "definitely starts to weigh on you."

More recently, Hall was among those who watched the New York Knicks defeat the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Finals to end the Knicks' championship drought that had lasted since 1973.

Breece Hall wants the Jets to follow in the Knicks' footsteps

While speaking with reporters on Tuesday, Hall shared that he recently spent some time with Knicks backup point guard Tyler Kolek and some friends.

"I congratulated them, and I was just like, I can’t wait to have that feeling," Hall explained, per Dennis Waszak Jr. of the Associated Press. "So, definitely positive jealousy because it’s like, d---, I want my team to be able to do that as well. It was definitely very cool to see."

Shortly after the Knicks booked the franchise's first trip to the NBA Finals since 1999, Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson said that "the belief is high" regarding what he and his teammates will achieve this coming NFL season. As of Wednesday morning, DraftKings Sportsbook had the Jets third among the betting favorites at +850 odds to finish the 2026 campaign with the fewest wins in the league. Some feel that the Jets are basically "tanking" with the 2027 draft in mind.

"We're hungry," Hall added, according to Rich Cimini of ESPN. "We're going to try to surprise everybody this year."

Aaron Glenn wants the Jets to take this from the Knicks' championship run

Back in May, Jets head coach Aaron Glenn praised the fact that the Knicks had been "a gritty, gritty team" throughout the Eastern Conference portion of the playoffs. Glenn offered those comments before the Knicks completed the biggest comeback in NBA Finals history en route to earning a 107-106 Game 4 win.

"You've probably heard me say this before, but, man, competitive stamina -- that's something that those men showed throughout that whole series, and that's a real thing," Glenn said about the Knicks on Tuesday. "It's something that we're working on, and the way you do that is, me as a coach, I have to make sure I create that in practice. It's hard to do that in OTAs because the physical part of it, but once we come to training camp, you can bet your a-- that we're going to work on competitive stamina, because those Knicks, those guys showed it."
