Las Vegas Raiders star pass-rusher Maxx Crosby has told just about anybody who will listen throughout the spring that he doesn't want to go anywhere after the Baltimore Ravens backed out of acquiring him this past March.
Nevertheless, Crosby has remained the subject of trade rumors for reasons that aren't all that clear. During the latest edition of the "Just Win Raiders Podcast," Raiders insider Sam Warren of The Athletic became the latest noteworthy member of the NFL community to suggest that Crosby will be staying put through at least the summer months.
"A lot of the defensive guys have said that he’s very active and he’s the same old Maxx with his leadership tendencies," Warren said about Crosby, per Eduardo Razo of Heavy. "I think he’s excited to be a part of this team for however long that is. I think there is that lingering thought that he could be moved at some point, whether that’s at the trade deadline or sometime in the future. But at this point and going into the season, they’re excited about him getting back on the field, being that leadership part for this defense. And I think he’s really excited about what (Raiders defensive coordinator) Rob Leonard has cooked up, with him obviously being his old defensive line coach."
Concerns related to the meniscus repair that Crosby underwent this past winter reportedly caused the Ravens to go in a different direction. Meanwhile, there's been no indication since before the 2026 NFL Draft got underway that either Crosby or Raiders general manager John Spytek wants to explore a different trade involving the 28-year-old.
Some have attempted to link the San Francisco 49ers with Crosby. However, a recent update said that outlets acting "like [the 49ers trading for Crosby] is imminent just because they aren’t getting enough clicks because it is June 17 is absolutely exhausting."
"He’s the guy that’s leading kind of the pre-practice handshake circles, dapping up all his teammates, really kind of getting the energy going pre-practice, whether he’s doing somersaults or stretches or whatever he’s doing out there," Warren added about Crosby's behavior during springtime workouts. "He’s definitely being active, kind of an active part of this team. I think he is trying to be a leader, part of the leadership group, [and] part of this team. I think he really wants to be a leader for this defense, and things obviously didn’t work out the way that probably both the Raiders and him intended with him coming back to this team. But now that things are happening, I think he is happy with the way that things have turned out. At least from his own comments, it seems like he’s reintegrated himself back into the Raiders pretty well."
The situation involving the Raiders and Crosby could change if the team loses way more than it wins before the November trade deadline arrives. That said, Crosby signed a three-year, $106.5M contract extension following the 2024 season. Thus, the Raiders don't need to be in any rush to trade him for a draft piece or two if he truly is committed to playing for the club until further notice.
