Jadeveon Clowney would be a 'fantastic fit' for this Super Bowl contender

The New England Patriots let K'Lavon Chaisson walk away in free agency, and they didn't do much to address his departure.

Fresh off a Super Bowl loss, Mike Vrabel's team could use some help on the edge as they look to get back to the biggest stage.

Considering that, Bleacher Report analyst Alex Kay believes they should target Jadeveon Clowney.

The former No. 1 pick remains unsigned, but he's not likely to retire, and he's coming off a strong season with the Dallas Cowboys.

Patriots tabbed as 'fantastic fit' for Jadeveon Clowney

“The New England Patriots are a fantastic fit for Clowney. The team needs to bolster the edge after coming up just short of a Super Bowl last season, adding some firepower to combat the top-tier opposing signal-callers the squad is set to come up against during the 2026 campaign,” Kay said.

Clowney has been the ultimate plug-and-play journeyman for years now. He never lived up to the expectations, but he's a proven veteran who can make an immediate impact regardless of his team.

Just last season, he had 8.5 sacks, 10 quarterback hits and 12 tackles for loss, according to Football Reference, and that's despite not being a starter or playing all 17 games for the Cowboys' sloppy defense.

Spotrac projects Clowney's market value at $5.7 million a year, though they can probably get him for less and give him an incentives-based contract.

Still, money shouldn't be an issue in Foxborough, as they have more than $34 million in available cap space, per Over The Cap.

Drake Maye has proved to be the real deal, and the Patriots have already made a big move by trading for A.J. Brown.

Now, they must double down on their aggressive offseason by giving him some help on the other side of the field.
