Regardless of what some media members continue to say during the early days of the NFL's summer break, there continues to be zero indication that the Las Vegas Raiders will trade star pass-rusher Maxx Crosby before the 2026 season gets underway.
Of course, that's quite a change from when it appeared back in March that Crosby would be joining the Baltimore Ravens. During comments recently shared by the Raiders' YouTube channel, Crosby discussed all that he experienced over the past several months.
"Every year is a different journey," Crosby explained, per Logan Lazarczyk of Sports Illustrated. "There's no secret, it's been a different offseason to say the least. Honestly, it's been a blessing in disguise. I've had the chance to grow in a lot of ways. My former [defensive coordinator], Gus Bradley, used to talk about uncomfortability and growth. That's something I really dove into this offseason because, without taking risks and being uncomfortable, you're never going to have great growth. So, that's really where I've been in an incredible place, and we have a lot of work to do for sure."
The Ravens backed out of acquiring Crosby due to supposed concerns related to the meniscus repair he underwent this past winter. It's now assumed that other would-be buyers won't match the Raiders' asking price for Crosby before he shows what he is coming off that procedure. Additionally, Crosby seemed to prove via his actions and words that he is serious about wanting to stay with the only NFL home he's had since the 2019 draft through at least this coming September.
What happens beyond that is currently anybody's guess.
Crosby has taken rookie quarterback Fernando Mendoza under his wing in an attempt to "help him out and show him the way." It sounds like Crosby is eager to serve as a mentor for other younger Raiders teammates.
"There's always room for growth and improvement," Crosby added during the segment. "For me, this offseason, I wanted to pack a little bit more of a punch as far as the weight room and strength and hitting the trap bar, and doing certain things, putting a little bit more muscle on. I think it'll help, just physically, staying healthy. In general, improve my game, and that's something we've really worked on, and I feel incredible. ...The reason I've been able to be put in this position and loved by the fans and be in a spot to lead is because of my actions. Every single day, I come in here with intentionality and want to improve and show the guys how it's done."
Eventually, Crosby may feel the need to discuss his future with general manager John Spytek. That said, it sounds like Crosby first wants to see if he can help the Raiders notch some wins in September and October.
