Morgan Rielly's agent submits trade list for Maple Leafs defenseman

The Toronto Maple Leafs are preparing for next season with a renewed project led by John Chayka as general manager and Jim Hiller as head coach.

The franchise’s previous leadership group featured former GM Brad Treliving as GM and former HC Craig Berube. While the latter appeared to have a chance of remaining behind the bench for the upcoming season, that ultimately was not the case, and on June 17, the Maple Leafs officially announced Hiller as their new coach.

Naturally, in addition to those front-office changes, roster moves are also expected. And that does not apply only to arrivals.

The Leafs recently acquired Darren Raddysh in a sign-and-trade deal with the Tampa Bay Lightning on Friday. However, the latest reports point toward a potential departure.

Morgan Rielly's agent submits four-team trade list

According to Darren Dreger, Morgan Rielly’s agent, J.P. Barry, has submitted a list of four Western Conference-based teams that the defenseman would be willing to join.

Each team will be evaluated individually before a decision is made on the option that best fits Rielly’s needs.

The 32-year-old has just completed the fourth season of his eight-year contract with the Maple Leafs. The deal carries a $7.5 million cap hit and a total value of $60 million.

During the 2025-26 season, Rielly appeared in 78 games, scoring 11 goals and adding 25 assists for a total of 36 points.

Despite being one of Berube’s key players last season and one of the few bright spots during a disappointing campaign, Rielly appears interested in a change of scenery and a fresh start with a new project.
