Gage Jump has been impressive on the mound for the Athletics since his call-up on May 26. Aside from his MLB debut where he got dinged with four runs on nine hits across five innings, picking up the loss against the Seattle Mariners, he has found his groove.
Despite the A's losing 2-1 against the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday, the rookie lowered his ERA to 2.04 with a dominant performance going five innings, giving up only three hits, no runs, one walk and striking out nine (career-high).
It was also his second consecutive scoreless outing, demonstrating his reliability. The rookie has logged a stellar 2.2% barrel rate that sits in the 98th percentile and a 34.5% chase rate that ranks in the 87th percentile.
In his last five starts, he has surrendered only four earned runs and no home runs, and he has 30 strikeouts for a 1.19 ERA and 0.79 WHIP. He has also been extremely remarkable on the road, boasting a 0.49 ERA.

The 23-year-old southpaw has continued to silence big-league hitters, by striking out prominent guys like Matt Chapman and Hunter Goodman.
He has also provided quite an impact as he has been able to avoid the long ball despite pitching in ballparks that are hitter-friendly. Across a minimum of 30 innings pitched across all left-handed pitchers since his debut, he ranks first with a 1.27 ERA, no home runs, a .230 SLG and a 2.14 FIP.

His hard-hit rate also sits in the 85th percentile at 32.6%, illustrating his ability to limit hard contact, which has been a strong element of his success this season. He also has a commanding fastball, which was evident against the Giants, where it was topping out at 98 mph.
Overall, he's been a sensational success story for the Athletics, who are actively pushing to be contenders in the AL West this season.
