'Bigger than the Met Gala': Travis Kelce-Taylor Swift wedding set to host staggering number of guests

The wedding of Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and pop star Taylor Swift could make the Met Gala look low-key.

Swift and Kelce will reportedly tie the knot this upcoming Friday at Madison Square Garden. It'll be one of the biggest weddings "The Big Apple" has hosted.

How many guests has Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift invited to the wedding?

Page Six's Sara Nathan and Jeanette Settembre reported Saturday that Swift and Kelce have invited over 1,000 guests to their wedding. The rehearsal dinner, meanwhile, will include 100.

"I've heard Taylor invited so many people it's going to be bigger than the Met Gala," a source told the outlet.

The wedding isn't just going to be bigger than the Met Gala. It's going to be way bigger than the annual fashion fundraiser in New York, assuming that many people attend. Per Vogue, the event typically hosts 450 attendees, mostly celebrities.

Many of these stars are set to attend the Kelce-Swift wedding. The rumored list of attendees includes singer Selena Gomez, actor Bradley Cooper, model Gigi Hadid, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and many other big names. That may be one of the few times Mahomes is starstruck.

Fleetwood Mac's Stevie Nicks, country star Tim McGraw and Beatle Paul McCartney are set to perform. Swift has also hinted that British artist Ed Sheeran, a close friend, will sing.

"It would be hard to keep him from it, I think!" Swift said during an interview with a United Kingdom radio show in October (h/t People's Kirsty Hatcher). "That's the thing, he's like, 'I'm always being asked to sing at weddings.' It's like, 'Ed, if there is a stage, you know you'll be on it.' He knows that's what people want, and he wants to give people what they want."

The only event that's comparable to the Swift-Kelce wedding is the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton, held on April 29, 2011, at Westminster Abbey in London. Approximately 1,900 guests attended. The American equivalent of a British royal wedding could be even more of a spectacle.
