Happy birthday to 13-time MLB All-Star, 1969 American League MVP and 1984 Pro Baseball Hall of Fame inductee, Harmon Killebrew!
Killebrew played 22 Big League seasons, making his debut on June 23 for then-Washington Nationals. He’d stay with the franchise through two name changes and a relocation after the Nationals became the Senators then the Minnesota Twins in 1961. He led the A.L. in home runs on six occasions and all MLB four times. He racked up eight 40-homer seasons and eclipsed the 100-RBI milestone nine times.
He played his final season with the Twins in 1974, and he remains the franchise’s all-time leader in home runs (559), RBI (1,540) and games played (2,329).
Which brings us to today’s quiz. Killebrew is one of four Twins to be named A.L. MVP in the Integration Era (since 1947). How many can you name in 10 minutes?
Good luck!
