Perhaps we should have seen this coming, but strange things sometimes happen on the recruiting trail.
It feels like Jett Harrison, the five-star wide receiver from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was destined to end up with the Ohio State Buckeyes, though.
The son of Pro Football Hall of Fame wide receiver Marvin Harrison, Jett is also the brother of former Ohio State great Marvin Harrison Jr., who starred in Columbus from 2021 to 2023.
The elder Harrison played at Syracuse in the late 90s, but Harrison Jr. became the No. 4 overall pick of the 2024 NFL Draft because of what he did during his time with the Buckeyes.
That's why Jett Harrison's commitment to Ohio State makes so much sense. Despite also having an interest in the Oregon Ducks and Miami Hurricanes, Jett decided to follow in his older brother's footsteps with the Buckeyes.
Despite being a 2028 recruit and thus having plenty of time to actually lock things in, Harrison committed to OSU on Wednesday.

This is massive for Ryan Day and the Buckeyes.
Rivals ranks Harrison as the top recruit in the 2028 class. According to the 247Sports Composite, he checks in as the No. 2 wideout and No. 4 recruit nationally.
Either way, he clearly has the pedigree to be great.
“The first and foremost thing is the competitive nature,” Marvin Sr. told Rivals when asked to evaluate his son. “Competitor is an understatement. The will to win. Obviously myself or his older brother, he’s been around this will to win and losing is not an option. That’s what makes him who he is today. Losing is not an option.”
Losing is not an option for Harrison, so he's committed to a school where that mindset will run into you at every turn. Day won the national championship in 2024 but is already under pressure to do it again, so Harrison will fit right in.
“I think that’s what’s instilled with him,” Harrison Sr. said of Jett. “If you have an older brother and a dad that’s going to push you, he was never going to shy away from hard work. I think with Jett it’s ‘What next! What’s next, I’m ready for it!’”
