Rays' Junior Caminero continues HR tear in win over Astros

Red hot like the weather across the country, Junior Caminero hit another home run on Friday as part of a Tampa Bay Rays' win to open up the holiday weekend. 

Connecting on a solo shot as the Rays beat the Houston Astros 3-1, Caminero crushed what would become the game-winning home run with the game tied in the seventh inning. 

But Caminero's home run is more significant than being a single long ball by itself. He now has 10 home runs in his last 10 games and has at least one in four-straight series. 

Junior Caminero has been on an HR tear 

Ironically, Caminero's most recent home run came after failing to leave the ballpark on Thursday when Tampa Bay completed a three-game sweep of the Kansas City Royals. However, he did blast two home runs and drive in five runs in the first two games of the series. 

Caminero almost matched an MLB record

Caminero even approached an MLB record at one point during his power surge. He homered in six consecutive games, two shy of tying the record shared by Dale Long, current Philadelphia Phillies manager Don Mattingly and Ken Griffey Jr., who each hit home runs in eight games in a row.
