Jaylen Brown's interaction with young fan after trade from Celtics to 76ers will warm your heart

Guard Jaylen Brown is six-year-old Giovanni Jean's favorite player. After learning the Boston Celtics traded Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers, the elementary schooler experienced one of his first sports heartbreaks.

Jean burst into tears while wearing a Brown jersey. His reaction went viral on social media, landing in the guard's Instagram feed. Brown comforted the young fan after seeing the post.

"It's ok lil bro we will always be friends," Brown commented. The guard kept that promise.

On Tuesday, Brown was at the Bridge Boston program at the MIT Media Lab. This summer camp encourages young students to explore STEM (science, technology, engineering and math). Jean attended and met Brown, who tickled and hugged him. He then gave the 2024 NBA Finals MVP a handwritten letter.

After accepting and thanking Jean for the letter, Brown spoke about the trade, which stunned him. He said he thought it was "weird" that Boston sent him to, of all teams, Eastern Conference rival Philadelphia.

"I get that things didn't end in a fashion that made sense to me," Brown said, via Malcolm Johnson of WBTS-TV in Boston. "I'm still trying to make sense of it. I'm still processing. I'm just grateful to have the opportunity and I'm grateful to the families that allow me to come into the community and get involved and try to find solutions."

Many players feel bitter toward a city after a team trades them, but not Brown. He'll cherish his many fond memories in Boston.

"It's OK," Brown said, via SB Nation's Noa Dalzell. "I love the city of Boston. I always have. I've been here for 10 years, a third of my life. I'll be 30 on [Oct. 24], so Boston is home, no management or organization will take that away."

The feeling is mutual. Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey dubbed July 7 "7uice Foundation Day" to honor Brown's community work. His foundation empowers youth in underserved communities through entrepreneurship, health, leadership and STEM programs.

He no longer plays for the Celtics, but Brown will continue to make good on his promises to Boston children. He already fulfilled one of his biggest after meeting Jean on Tuesday.
