One couldn't blame retired quarterback and current Las Vegas Raiders minority owner Tom Brady if he couldn't name a favorite Super Bowl victory. After all, the greatest winner in NFL history collected seven Super Bowl championship rings during his stints with the New England Patriots and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
That said, it turns out that one Super Bowl win does hold a special place in Brady's heart.
Per Lauren Campbell of MassLive, Brady revealed during the episode of the "New Heights" podcast that the Patriots' 28-24 win over the Seattle Seahawks in February 2015 is his favorite Super Bowl result.
"We had gone 10 years, and three times we won it, then I had two where we lost it," Brady explained. "And then 2014 came, and we’re going against the 'Legion of Boom.' And we’re down 10 in the fourth quarter, and then we end up having the most incredible last 20 minutes of the game."
As Brady referenced, the Patriots won the third Super Bowl title of their dynastic run in February 2005. However, Brady and Co. then suffered Super Bowl losses to the New York Giants in February 2008 and February 2012.
Against the Seahawks, Brady tossed a pair of fourth-quarter touchdown passes to give the Patriots a late lead. Then-Seattle head coach Pete Carroll later shockingly called a pass play instead of handing the ball to physical running back Marshawn Lynch at the New England one-yard line with 25 seconds left in regulation. Cornerback Malcolm Butler ultimately picked off Russell Wilson to secure the win for the Patriots and leave Seattle fans wondering what could have been.
"I don’t want to sound arrogant," Brady added. "I would say they’re all different, first of all, and they’re all meaningful because they tell a different story."
Brady famously jumped up and down on the sideline immediately after he saw Butler make one of the greatest plays in the history of the Patriots. Perhaps Brady will one day experience a similar moment while standing on the sideline for a Raiders Super Bowl win.
