Father Time is undefeated, and not even the greatest players in NBA history can change that.
That's why Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry took a deep look in the mirror and acknowledged that he had to dial back for a bit.
Following an injury-riddled season, the four-time NBA champion is being overly cautious with his injured knee, and he doesn't want to put that much into it.
Considering that, he's taken a far less aggressive approach to his offseason preparation.
“It’s just a more patient approach,” he said. “Quality over quantity, and the idea that I can still get to the level that I need to. Just being a little bit more mindful of how to balance a four-month summer, knowing that I need the rest, but I also don’t want to get too far away where it’s hard to get back. So, it’s just more mindful and intentional with timing and spacing throughout the summer.”
Clearly, this shows the knee injury may not be a matter of one season. It could be a lingering issue if not treated cautiously.
Curry may have rushed his way back to the court to try to lead the Warriors to the playoffs in the final stretch of the season.
The Warriors are now trying to pair him with LeBron James, knowing that Jimmy Butler will miss a big chunk of the season after dealing with a major injury of his own.
Curry is known for having one of the most physically demanding and thorough preparation and workout routines, even during the offseason.
Now, it looks like he'll have to tone it down, and it'll be interesting to see whether it takes a toll on his stamina or his game.
