Conor McGregor’s much-hyped UFC comeback ended after about a minute on Saturday night, but he appears determined to make sure it is not his last appearance in the octagon.
McGregor seemingly indicated that he intends to try and fight again after hurting his knee 69 seconds into Saturday’s fight with Max Holloway (video here). In an early morning X post, McGregor expressed his shock over what transpired, but defiantly indicated that he plans to make a comeback.
“I will overcome this. I will not be deterred. I will return,” McGregor wrote.
I was so sharp and so ready for this fight I cannot believe what has happened. The talk of me being off while walking in to the fight is nonsense. I was calm, ready, and confident. I am in shock what has taken place. The devil is literally staring at me right in front of my face…

If McGregor does return, it is fair to question at what level he would be at. Saturday’s fight was to be his first in five years, and he turns 38 on Tuesday. Many of his previous attempts to return to UFC have been derailed by injury as well.
The nature and severity of McGregor’s injury are still unknown. Clearly, he is ready to get to rehabbing whatever it is.
