Caitlin Clark seemingly got more of the same during Sunday’s game.

The Indiana Fever superstar Clark was on the receiving end of another painful moment as her team faced the Las Vegas Aces on Sunday. In the first half at Michelob ULTRA Arena in Las Vegas, Nev., Clark was defending Aces star guard Chelsea Gray in the post.

Gray attempted to hit Clark with a couple of fakes and caught Clark in the midsection with an elbow before pivoting the other way into her shot. Eventually, Gray succeeded in drawing the foul on Clark, but Clark immediately fell to the ground in pain because of the elbow that she took from Gray in the process.

Here is the video.

Clark soon popped to her feet to confront the officials over the play. While the referees did decide to initiate a review for a hostile act, they ultimately just upheld the original call on the floor, giving Clark a common foul.

Though many would call that normal basketball contact, everything involving Clark these days comes with some increased scrutiny. The 24-year-old All-Star Clark was recently hit in the throat by Alyssa Thomas of the Phoenix Mercury during a game (see the video here), resulting in a retroactive flagrant 2 foul and a one-game suspension for Thomas.

In response to the Thomas incident, a group of House Republicans sent a letter to WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert demanding answers over Clark’s treatment by opponents on the court. After Sunday’s game, those GOP lawmakers may have just gotten some more ammo thanks to the elbow by Gray, herself a six-time All-Star and four-time WNBA champion, to Clark.
