LeBron James remains mum on free-agency plans, despite Tyrese Haliburton's best efforts

Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton tried to coax LeBron James into revealing where he plans to sign in free agency. His efforts failed.

On Thursday, James recorded an episode of his "Mind the Game" podcast at Fanatics Fest in New York. During the taping, Haliburton asked the four-time champion if he had a decision to announce. "The King" then deflected the question.

LeBron James refuses to tell Tyrese Haliburton where he's leaning toward signing in free agency

"We just talked about this in the back," James told Haliburton.

Instead of pestering him on the topic as many interviewers would, Haliburton dropped the subject.

"OK, OK, I'll leave it alone," he said.

Even James, who starred for the Los Angeles Lakers last season, may not be sure where he wants to play next. The 41-year-old knows wherever he lands, he's going to try to enjoy it as much as possible.

"I'm just looking forward to what holds next as I wind down the final stages of my journey," James said. "It'll be fun wherever I land, I'm gonna do what I do next."

James should have a better idea of where he'll land soon. ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania said Thursday on "The Pat McAfee Show" that James is "getting closer and closer to making a decision" within the next week. Charania added that the focus is on the Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors, Philadelphia 76ers and Miami Heat.

For those who wonder why the Pacers aren't on James' list, Haliburton has already tried recruiting him; those efforts were just as unsuccessful as the attempt to pry information from the four-time league MVP. He texted the guard two crying laughing emojis when he asked him about playing in Indiana, which ended the pursuit of the future Hall of Famer.
