LeBron James is no longer part of the roster of the Los Angeles Lakers, and that's a weird feeling, but it's a reality. The eight-year relationship is over.
Now, both James and the Lakers have to move on. And they're doing just that. James is fielding opportunities from heaps of NBA teams, because who wouldn't want him on their roster? The Lakers are putting together a roster that they hope is sustainable without James.
But, there are no hard feelings, at least publicly. Nobody knows what happens behind closed doors, but both James and the Lakers are playing nice in the public eye.
James and Indiana Pacers' Tyrese Haliburton hosted an episode of the "Mind the Game" podcast in New York City on Thursday, and there, James had some parting words for the Lakers. He sent them a strong message, a positive one.
"Shout out my former team," James said at the event, according to ESPN's Dave McMenamin, who was there and shared footage. "I spent eight great years with the Los Angeles Lakers."
He added, "That was an unbelievable ride and I am looking forward to what comes next as I wind down my journey. It's going to be fun wherever I land."
So, where will James land? It's anybody's guess right now.
