Bills' Dion Dawkins explains why playing with Josh Allen 'absolutely sucks'

During a recent NFL Network appearance, Buffalo Bills offensive tackle Dion Dawkins suggested that he agrees with those who believe Buffalo's Josh Allen is the best quarterback in the league heading into the 2026 season. 

Dawkins has protected Allen during campaigns since the Bills selected the signal-caller in the 2018 NFL Draft. While speaking with Scott Thompson of Fox News Digital at the Fanatics Fest event held in New York City, Dawkins acknowledged that blocking for a dual-threat quarterback such as Allen isn't always a picnic.

"People think playing [with] Josh Allen is the best thing in the world," Dawkins joked. "It f----ng sucks. All right? It absolutely sucks. Josh is here and there, and you gotta know where he is at all times. But the best thing about having Josh, when you’ve played with him for so long...me knowing how Josh moves and how he flows, it’s been great."

Allen has developed a reputation for being one of the league's top quarterbacks as it pertains to using his legs to keep a play alive before he either scrambles to pick up yards or finds an open receiver. Just last fall, New England Patriots cornerback Carlton Davis III noted that it sometimes feels like Allen is "just out there playing backyard football" without a playbook.

According to the StatMuse website, Allen led the league among quarterbacks for the 2025 regular season with 579 rushing yards.
