The Baltimore Orioles have agreed to a five-year contract extension worth $90 million with right-handed starting pitcher Kyle Bradish through 2031.
Across 86 career starts with the Orioles, Bradish has recorded a 3.50 ERA. In addition, he has a career 485 strikeouts to 165 walks with a 1.206 WHIP, and in 2023, he finished fourth in the AL Cy Young Award voting following a breakout campaign, sporting a 2.83 ERA in 30 starts for Baltimore.
According to MLB insider Jeff Passan, the Orioles have locked down their ace starter while simultaneously buying out three years of free agency. He will earn $10 million in 2027, $13 million in 2028, $17 million in 2029, $22 million in 2030, and $28 million in 2031.
The 29-year-old has held a 3.61 ERA with 106 strikeouts across 107.1 innings pitched with a 4.00 FIP across 19 starts this season. He has also been performing like his dominant 2023 self, upholding a 3.42 ERA since May 25. The contract extension provides Bradish with three of his free-agent years locked in.

Four of the seven top contracts in Orioles history have been locked down in the past 11 months. In addition to Bradish, Pete Alonso signed a five-year, $155 million deal back in December 2025, Shane Baz signed a five-year, $68 million extension in March of this year, and they secured rookie catcher Samuel Basallo to an eight-year, $67 million extension in August 2025.
Orioles president of baseball operations Mike Elias commented on Bradish getting extended and how he believes the extension will provide the Orioles with a bright future in the rotation. He stated,
"We have believed strongly in Kyle since he first joined the organization as a Minor Leaguer in 2019. He has worked hard, with the support of our entire development team, to become one of the best starting pitchers in the league. He's an exemplary member of our team and our community, and we are thrilled that he and his family are here to stay. This extension reflects the continued dedication of our ownership group, led by David Rubenstein, to build and sustain a team that our fans and Baltimore can be proud of.”
The five-year, $90 million extension for Bradish has placed him third (behind only Chris Davis and Pete Alonso) among the biggest contracts given out to Orioles players.
