Jalen Brunson explains why he won't recruit LeBron James to the Knicks

Once again, LeBron James is keeping his foot down on the NBA in free agency.

All 30 teams are waiting to see what the four-time NBA champion will do and where he'll go next before making moves, and there's no timeline for his decision.

James is reportedly considering joining four different teams, but more than half a dozen franchises inquired about him. Notably, the New York Knicks, the defending NBA champions, weren't among them, at least to public knowledge.

The Knicks could've probably asked Jalen Brunson to reach out to James to discuss potentially teaming up. But as he told Chad Johnson and Shannon Sharpe on "Nightcap," that's just not in his job description.

“My job is to go out there, dribble the ball, put the ball in the hoop,” Brunson said. “Try and play a little defense. There’s people who are above me who determine who’s on the team and who’s not. So, I’ll leave the pitching to them.”

Of course, Brunson didn't mean to disrespect James with these comments, but that's probably not the best approach as a franchise player.

Granted, the Knicks are well-rounded and clearly don't need James or anyone else right now, but there's no harm in using your leverage as the face of the franchise to add more firepower to the roster.

James and the Knicks were tangled up in rumors in all of his previous free-agency periods, but to no avail. 

And now that they're on top of the world and are finally the team to beat in the NBA, it looks like they're no longer interested in having The King at The Garden.
