Anthony Edwards knows that life will not be a fairy tale with his new co-star.

The Minnesota Timberwolves star forward Edwards appeared over the weekend at Fanatics Fest in New York, N.Y. During the event, Edwards appeared on a panel and was asked about his new teammate LaMelo Ball.

Edwards addressed the expected fit in the backcourt between him and Ball and made a brutally honest admission.

“It’s definitely going to be ups and downs,” said Edwards. “First year together, maybe a lot of downs. But we gonna celebrate both of them. We gonna celebrate the ups, celebrate the downs, and just go with it.”

The former All-Star Ball, 24, was acquired by the Timberwolves earlier this month as part of a blockbuster trade involving multiple other players and a plethora of future draft picks. A career 20-ppg scorer, Ball projects to be the best backcourt partner that Edwards, also 24, has ever played with (especially given Minnesota’s dire need at the position over the last few years).

But Ball is indeed a chaotic player who has the ball in hands often, takes plenty of ill-advised shots, and is prone to turnovers while trying for highlight-reel passes. Reports in the past have also claimed that Ball has had a poor work ethic, so Edwards is definitely preparing for some growing pains in the early stages of his partnership with Ball.
